COLTS OF '57

Senator John F. Kennedy was awarded a Pulitzer Prize for Profiles in Courage, Jack Kerouac's On the Road was published, The Soviet Union launched the 1st man-made satellite, Sputnik I, the great Jackie Robinson retired from Baseball and Nashwauk graduated the Class of 1957! Their 60 year re-union will take place Saturday, July 1, 2 pm  at Mr. Robert's  Restaurant, East Side, Swan Lake, Pengilly.

  
 
 
  

REIMBURSED SENIOR VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is looking for volunteers aged 55 years and older to serve in their Senior Companion Program by providing friendly in-home visits to elderly adults.  Volunteers will receive a tax-free, hourly stipend as well as mileage reimbursement.  Interested individuals should contact Sarah Garramone at 218-529-2280


NAEF IS NOW NACF!

Nashwauk Area Chamber of Commerce member, Nashwauk Area Endowment Fund has changed it's name, but not it's mission.  The new name is the Nashwauk Area Community Fund. You can link to it from our Individual & Non-profit page or simply go to www.nashwaukfund.org.  Thanks to grant from the Blandin Foundation, NACF is now participating in a matching funds program. There's never been a better time to donate.


SUMMER LIBRARY HOURS

School might be out; but the library is still going strong! The Nashwauk Library Summer hours are Monday through Thursday, Noon to 6 pm. The Library is located on the lower level of the Nashwauk-Keewatin High School; Nashwauk and may be accessed from the 2nd Street (West) side of the building. 218-885-1280 ext. 51178.



CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MEETINGS

The meetings will be held at 5:30 pm; American Legion Hall unless otherwise stipulated.  A social hour will follow. The next meeting is set for Wednesday, September 20. The remaining one is scheduled for Wednesday, November 15.




FRIDAY NIGHT FISH FRY

Nashwauk Area Chamber of Commerce member, Wizard's Sports Bar & Grill hosts an all-you-can-eat fish fry for $8.95 every Friday night between the hours of 4 and 9 pm.  102 Central Avenue, Nashwauk. 218-885-3080.
